Castaic Sports Complex Aquatic Center, celebrated its grand opening in May 2013. The new $13 million aquatic center features a short course pool and a shallow water recreational pool with integrated water features. The complex also includes a 12,500 sq. ft. building for the pool support spaces. The aquatic center is a popular draw to the Castaic area community offering programming such as swim lessons, a junior lifeguard program, aqua aerobics, and synchronized swimming
Marking the entrance to the aquatic center is artwork by renowned Los Angeles visual artist Bob Zoell. The piece, entitled Bubbles, consists of 21 glass panels depicting bubbles in water. Each glass panel is sandwiched between clear glass in one inch thick insulated glass units, making the design and construction of the artwork consistent with the project’s goals of achieving the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Silver Certification.
