The Columbia City Parks & Recreation Department retained Counsilman-Hunsaker and Martin Riley Architects to provide a conceptual design and feasibility analysis for replacement of the 50-year-old Bunworth Memorial Pool.  Since the pool is beginning to show its age with visible and not-so-visible signs of wear and tear from decades of activity and exposure to the elements, a new facility would offer recreational, therapy, instructional, fitness, and competitive programs in the community. The new aquatic center would provide an outlet for all age groups, including senior fitness, teaching children to swim, fostering the development of healthy lifestyles, and strengthening the fabric of the community. The feasibility study provided a space program analysis and project costs for three conceptual options detailing site-specific construction estimates with line item costs for each proposed space. Along with each concept, the team provided a revenue and expense analysis to give a complete picture of what the facility would cost to build and operate.

In 2016, Counsilman-Hunsaker and Martin Riley were once again retained by the city to review study options and recommendations for the concept chosen by the city. Demographics were updated, as well as revenue and expenses for the current year and five years into the future. Findings were then presented to the city for approval.
