East High School determined that its existing pool facility was well over 50 years old and due for a new upgrade. Its aquatic facility featured numerous deficiencies in design and condition, including a low roof structure, a shallow pool tub, and a pool shell and deck past service life. Among these faults, the pool featured only six sim lanes, inadequate ADA access, insufficient spectator seating, and little room for team members.
Given the pool’s deficiencies, the school district decided to build a brand-new stand-alone aquatic center. The $16 million facility is 32,700 sq. ft., and its impressive new pool includes a 75 ft. by 120 ft. stretch with ten swim lanes, four springboards, a stair entry, and a movable bulkhead. Also included in the facility are restrooms, shower and locker rooms, a mechanical equipment room, a pool equipment storage room, spectator seating and competitor seating areas, and an administrative office and custodial room.
