The City of Odessa, Texas, owns four outdoor seasonal aquatic facilities built before 1950 that had reached physical and functional obsolescence. The City of Odessa Feasibility Study focused on replacing the existing facilities and developing new partnerships with community groups. In 2002, improvements were made to Woodson Pool and Sherwood Pool at a cost of $2,200,000 each. The project included the construction of a new leisure pool with zero-depth entry, participatory play features, current channel, vortex, waterslides and fitness lap lanes with a water depth to accommodate a one-meter springboard diving.
