Williams Farm Recreation Center – Feasibility StudyVirginia Beach, VA
HBA Architecture, Moody Nolan and Counsilman-Hunsaker partnered for the Williams Farm Community Recreation Center study, formerly known as the Bayside Community Center. The 71,000 sq. ft. center had been planned with maximum flexibility to allow the concept to be adaptable for future programming and services. Through a market needs analysis, HBA Architecture and Moody Nolan provided a new activity program for the dry side recreation areas, while Counsilman-Hunsaker provided conceptual design, project costing, and completion of programming and schematic design for the aquatic related features. The entire planning and design process included extensive public involvement to guide neighborhood specific program requirements and to begin the process of stakeholder buy-in.
Aquatic Design & Engineering
Completed in 2012, the resulting aquatics venue included a multipurpose recreation pool as well as an outdoor water sprayground. Counsilman-Hunsaker was retained to complete construction documents through design development, allowing the project to be transitioned into a design-build procurement delivery method.
